Zoom in and out MetaTrader 5 and Ninjatrader using mouse wheel

Zooming in your charts in MetaTrader and Ninjatrader can be frustrating at times since you need key combinations and remove your hand from the mouse in order to zoom in and out. Fortunately, there is a way to zoom as if you are zooming in and out of platforms such as Tradingview. This can be done using a third-party software called X-Mouse Button Control.

X-Mouse can be programmed to be used on specific applications which means it won't change any behavior of other applications on your system aside from the applications where you need it. In this case, these applications would be MetaTrader 5 and Ninjatrader. (I have not tested it out on MetaTrader 4 since I am only using MetaTrader 5.)

Now to the good part. You can download the X-Mouse application HERE.

This is how it would look like after launching the mouse control button application.

In MetaTrader 5, you can manually zoom in and out of the application using the CTRL + Mouse Wheel key combination. You can set it up in X-Mouse as a Wheel up and Wheel Down behaviors.

In NinjaTrader on the other hand, you can set it by changing the Mouse Wheel simulations to CTRL + UP and CTRL + DN.

You might have noticed that the settings in MT5 is "As mouse button is pressed" while in NinjaTrader it is "As mouse button is released", this is a personal preference depending on how you want the mouse wheel to behave. You can try changing it up to your liking.

Here's a videos of X-Mouse Button Control in action.

Ninjatrader unfortunately does not allow screen grabbing on the data feed but rest assured that it works the same way just follow the correct settings shown above.

Hope this helps you have a better charting experience using MetaTrader 5 and Ninjatrader platforms.
